The ANU Indonesia Institute, with support from the Indonesia Project, is hosting its annual interdisciplinary workshop for students conducting Indonesia-related research at the postgraduate and honours level. The workshop will take place on September 11 and 12 in-person on ANU campus.
The workshop is designed to:
- Provide an opportunity for students to share their research in a supportive environment
- Learn about Indonesia-related research being conducted by other students
- Meet and network with students and scholars with similar interests
- Learn from ANU scholars about presenting, publishing and building a professional research career
This two-day event will consist of a mix of student presentations and interactive panels with ANU Indonesia experts. Students are invited to submit a 200-word abstract outlining the themes and content of their paper. The presentation may take the form of a general overview of their thesis or research plan, or it may cover a single thesis chapter, conference paper, or draft article. It is expected that student presentations will reflect work in progress rather than polished pieces of scholarship. Presenters will be organised into panels focusing on particular disciplinary areas or themes, depending on the range of papers submitted. Each presentation will be 15 minutes, with time set aside for questions, answers and discussion at the conclusion of each panel.
The workshop will take place before the ANU Indonesia Update Conference 2024 on 'How Jokowi Changed Indonesia' (13-14 September) and we encourage students to stay and attend this free conference too.
