Each year the ANU Indonesia Institute recognises the academic accomplishments of our undergraduate community studying Indonesian language through the Pustaka Prizes.
These prizes aim to: (a) promote the value of studying Indonesia to a new generation of students; and (b) recognise students’ commitment to the study of Indonesian language.
We sponsor two prizes open to all ANU undergraduate students enrolled in Bahasa Indonesia courses.
Pustaka Prize criteria
- The highest achiever prize will be awarded to a student who has nominated the Indonesian Language Major towards their degree, and completed the Major in any given academic year. The award will be given to the student with the highest grade point average across all Indonesian language courses across their degree. The awardee will receive $600 and a letter of recognition.
- The emerging talent prize will be awarded to a student completing beginners Indonesian (Indonesian 1 and 2) on campus. The award will be given to the student with the highest grade point average across their Indonesian language courses. The courses do not need to be undertaken in the same academic year but must be undertaken on campus at ANU. The awardee will receive $500 and a letter of recognition.
A student is not eligible to be awarded the prize if:
- the student is making a second or subsequent attempt at any of the courses (at the discretion of the convenor);
If, in any year, two or more students is deemed to achieve the same best overall results, the prize money awarded in that year shall be divided equally between them.
If, in any year, no student achieves results that, in the opinion of the Dean of the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific justify awarding the prize in that year, the prize shall not be awarded.
